John Dearing
October 27, 1938 - August 29, 2013
Born October 27, 1938 in Pasadena Texas, John Thomas "Jackie" Dearing passed away Thursday August 29. His parents were John and Ruth Dearing. Raised in Pasadena Texas, he graduated from Pasadena High School in 1957. After graduation, he attended Baytown College. John worked construction as a heavy equipment operator for six years. He then went to work at ARMCO Steel in 1963 and took an early retirement in 1983 due to the plant shutting down. By the time John retired, he was a supervisor of pipe fittings and millwrights. Upon leaving ARMCO, he went to work at San Jacinto College in Pasadena as Maintenance Supervisor. John retired from San Jac in 2004.
He is survived by wife Loretta, children Marcy Ann Davis (Alan), John G. Dearing (April), Bradford L. Dearing (Julie), Denise Montemayor (Michael). He is also survived by 11 grandchildren (Jade, Blake, Jordan, Morgan, John Austin, Madichen, Micah, Brayden, Alyssa, Lorelei, and Thomas), 1 great grand-child (Braylin), and 2 nieces (Lois and Melinda). John is proceeded in death by his parents and sister.
John has always enjoyed cars. With his 1965 Mustang Fastback he attended car shows and won many awards. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons and buddies. He was also a member of La Porte Community Church.
Visitation will be held at Paul U. Lee Funeral Home in LaPorte on Saturday August 31 from 5-7p.m. Services will be held at LaPorte Community Church on Sunday September 1 at 3 p.m. Internment at LaPorte Cemetery following services.
