Peter Marchant Griffiths

Peter Marchant Griffiths, age 71, was called home to be with our Lord on October 7th 2014, passing away peacefully with his wife by his side. He was born in Providence, Rhode Island on August 26th, 1943 and grew up in Taunton, Massachusetts. He moved to New York where he met and married the love of his life, Silda who he was married to for 44 years. Peter was a loving husband, caring father and proud grandfather.
Peter proudly served in the U.S. Navy then moved to La Porte, Texas where he and Silda raised their two children, Jane and Peter.
Peter was an avid college and NFL football fan where he rooted for the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame, Houston Texans and New England Patriots (as long as they were not playing the Texans). Early in life Peter enjoyed bowling, tennis and traveled the world with his wife.
He was an active member of St. Mary’s Church in La Porte as a Lector, Commentator, and a member of the Pastoral Council.
He leaves behind his wife, Silda Griffiths; their children and spouses; Jane and Joe DeSanto, Peter and Ana Silvia Griffiths; grandchildren: Peter Andrew and Ana Sophia Griffiths, Joseph, Patrick and Nicole DeSanto; and niece Silda Emperatriz Como. He also is survived by his brother Paul Griffiths and his spouse Maria, sisters Jane Hoden and her spouse Paul, and Elizabeth Bourne.
The viewing and rosary will be held at St. Mary’s Church in La Porte on Friday, October 10, 2014 from 5 -8 pm. A mass to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at St. Mary’s Church at 12 p.m. with burial at the La Porte Cemetery.
