Everett William Hayes
July 11, 1925 - February 12, 2015
Everett “Bill” Hayes, 89, passed away peacefully on February 12th, 2015 after a lengthy illness.
He was born on July 11th, 1925 in Rockport, Missouri to Everett Samuel Hayes and Susie Hazel Mount.
He was preceded in death by his childhood sweetheart and lifelong companion and wife of 67 years, Eva Jayne Hayes, his Father Everett Samuel Hayes, his Mother and Step Father Susie and Charles Morris, and younger Brother Donald Eugene Hayes.
Bill served in WWII as aircraft carrier signal man. He was very proud to be a 32 degree Mason as well as a Shriner. He was deeply engaged with the La Porte Lodge #857, having held 6 chairs and Worshipful Master from 1982 to 1983.
The majority of his working career was entrepreneurial in the restaurant management field, which began in Hamburg, Iowa and resulted in relocating to Texas in 1957, and establishing in La Porte in 1962. His life experiences were storied and diverse, ranging from employment as a bronco breaker, stock car racer, riverboat chef, maintenance services, painter, long haul freighter, restaurant ownership and management and many more. His most joyful times outside of family included fishing and motorcycle riding, which he enjoyed until the age of 84.
He is survived by Sons “Billy” E. Hayes and Kenneth Ray Hayes, Grandchildren Everett William Hayes and Wife Debbie, Eva Jayne Jones and Husband Russell, Kelly Hayes Kay and Husband J.L., Michelle Hayes Pfeiffer, Christopher Eugene Hayes and Christina Thralls, and Kenneth Ray Hayes II and wife Brittany. Great Grandchildren Joshua Eugene Hayes and Alex, Chelsea Hayes Tally and Husband Josh, Marissa Danielle Hayes, Cole Martin Cook, Brianna Pat Cook, Kenneth Lane Pfeiffer, Maci Brianne Pfeiffer, Justin Tyler Kay, Landon Patrick Kay, Madelyn Marie Hayes, and Avry Skie Hayes. Great-Great Grandchildren Bryan Hayes, Kaleb Tally, Brayden Tally, Ramsey Hayes, Dakota Hayes, Zavery Martinez, and Kinleigh Tally.
Family will receive friends on Monday, February 16th, 2015 from 6 to 9 pm at the Paul U. Lee Funeral Home in La Porte. Services will be held on Tuesday, February 17th, 2015 at 10 am at the Funeral Home Chapel, with Interment to follow at Grand View Memorial Park Cemetery.
