Patrick Lane Mathews, who touched many lives with the inspiration to strive for excellence, not perfection, passed away at age 47, doing what he enjoyed most, being on the water boating with his son and friend on Monday, May 23, 2016. Born April 3, 1969 in Texas City, Texas. He grew up in Seabrook and Moss Hill and attended Hardin High School. He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Lane Mathews, and his step-father Ernest Johnson. Patrick is survived by his dedicated and loving wife Deanna Mathews, his sons Riley and Cody Mathews and his step-daughter Cheyenne. His mother Glenda Johnson of Hardin, Texas; sister Angie Johnson of Hardin, Texas; sister Kim Buckmiller and husband David; brother Johnny Johnson and wife Amber of Livingston, Texas; brother Ernie Johnson and wife Debbie of Nassau Bay, Texas; brother Robin Johnson of Hardin, Texas; brother Kyle Johnson and wife Sonia of Rye, Texas; and brother David Hanson and wife Nancy of York, Maine. In-laws Kathy and Andre Fancello of Friendswood, Texas, along with many other aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins….He was a very highly skilled mechanic and electrician, otherwise known as jack of all trades. There was nothing that he could not fix…He always loved helping others and being able to put his self-taught skills to good use. He lived his life with a generous heart and enthusiasm to make, build or fix anything. He worked for many Motorcycle and ATV shops including Kawasaki of Pasadena, and even owned and operated his own shop in Webster alongside Pat Murphy, a very dear friend. He was very proud to tell everyone that he was an intricate part of the LED updates on most of the Galveston-Bolivar Ferries and working with the crew from TXDOT. He will be cherished forever with his acts of kindness helping countless friends, family and neighbors.
Funeral will be held with visitation at 10am and memorial service at 11am on Friday, May 27, 2016 at Paul U. Lee La Porte Funeral Home 201 South 3rd Street La Porte, Texas with graveside services following at 1pm at Forest Park East 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, Texas.
