Anerson "Mac" McBride
January 24, 1920 - December 14, 2009
Anerson (Mac) McBride, 89 was born on January 24, 1920 in Ville Platt, Louisiana and passed away on December 14, 2009 in Houston, TX. Anerson (Mac) was the youngest of four children born to Noah McBride and Beatrice La Fleur McBride and was raised in Vinton, Louisiana then moved to Texas in 1943. His younger daughter Janice predeceased him by one year. He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Margaret A. Guthrey McBride, his older son John E. McBride, and his son Noah, older daughter Robyne E. McBride, Mark A. McBride and daughter in law Kathleen Becan-McBride, grandchildren Jason Seydler, Laura Sciubba, Patrick McBride, Noah McBride, and Jonathan McBride, and great grandchildren Vivian Seydler, Finnaveir McBride, Andrew Seydler, Kai McBride, Isabelle Sciubba, Jack Sciubba, and Madeline McBride.
In World War II, Mac was in the sixth US Marine Division Light Armor involved in the capture of Sugar Loaf Hill on Okinawa, one of the six survivors. After the war, he became an industrial insulator in Local Union 22. In 1980, he and his son, Mark started their own insulation business, Insultherm, Inc. and developed new specialized applications for the industry. Mac enjoyed life to the fullest. As a youth, he was a scout, football player, rodeo rider, model plane builder, hunter, and fisherman. In late life, he became an avid sailor. He loved his sailboat and the places it would bring him. Pallbearers will be Patrick McBride, Jonathan McBride, Jason Seydler, Robert Parker, Laura Sciubba, and Noah McBride. A rosary will be held on Thursday December 17, 2009 at 7PM at Paul U. Lee La Porte Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral mass will be held on Friday December 18, 2009 at 10AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 816 Park Drive in La Porte, Texas. In lieu of usual remembrances the family asks for donations to be made to St. Jude’s or Texas Children’s Hospital, Houston, Texas. If you would like to send to flowers you may send them to the funeral home by Thursday evening December 17 or St. Mary’s Catholic Church by Friday morning December 18.
