Obituary of Mary McLain

Mary McLain June 28, 1944 - June 16, 2013 Mary McLain of LaPorte, Texas was born June 28th, 1944 in Washington D.C. to George and Dorris Golden and died June 16, 2013 in Webster, Texas after a courageous battle with cancer. Mary is preceded in death by her parents, brother Bernie Golden and sister Patricia Shepherd. Mary is survived by her son Dan Stein of San Diego, Ca., daughter Cyndi Gillie of League City Tx., Grandson Jaysen Hall of League City Tx., brother George Golden of Culpepper Va., brother John Golden of Dayton, Oh., , nephew Robert Pratt, nephew Matthew Golden, niece Heather and husband David Hammond, all of Ohio, and several cousins in the Virginia and Maryland area. During her many years of service at NASA JSC she received various awards and honors and for two decades served as President of the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE). Mary never met an animal she didn’t try to pet or feed, she loved all animals. Her wish was to not have a funeral or memorial service, wanting her friends and family to remember her from her good days which usually included a joke and a story of what she bought on sale during the previous weekend. Per her wishes, in lieu of flowers, she requested small donations be made to local animal charity or shelter of your choice.
