Obituary of Samuel Lawrence Moore

Samuel Lawrence Moore March 14, 1923 - January 20, 2008 Samuel Lawrence Moore, Jr., 84, died January 20, 2008. A 43 year resident of La Porte. He was born March 14, 1923 in Barr, Mississippi to Samuel Lawrence Moore, Sr. and Minnie West Moore. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Ruth Foote. Samuel is survived by his wife of 53 years Muriel Dean Moore, children Karen Moore of Pasadena, Rise’ Dean Hardig and husband Nick of League City, one granddaughter Elizabeth Dean Hardig of League City, One brother Thomas W. Moore of Nashville, TN, four sisters Merle Barmer of Lake Cormorant, MS, Kathleen Miller of Cordova, TN, Imogene Blair of Senatobia, MS, and Minnie Lee Stucks of Coldwater, MS. A veteran of WWII, he was awarded the Purple Heart and 3 bronze stars. He was a life member of the VFW La Porte Post 8251 where he served as Quartermaster for many years. He was also a member of First Baptist Church of Pasadena. Visitation will be held Wednesday January 23 at 6-8pm at Paul U. Lee La Porte Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be held Thursday January 24 at 1pm, with a graveside at 3pm at Houston National Cemetery.
