Johnnie Edwin Ponder January 09, 1935 - December 10, 2007 Johnnie Edwin Ponder, 72, of La Porte passed away Monday December 10, 2007 in Houston. He was born January 9, 1935 in Valley Mills, Texas to Ira Lawrence and Veda Lee Ponder. He retired as a DuPont Mechanic after 37 years. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and loved playing golf. Along with hatching and raising ducks in his backyard. He is survived by wife Jean Ponder, children Johnnie L. Ponder and Barbara, Judy Ledbetter and Ray, Jerry Ponder and Shelley, sister Peggy Hovey, grandchildren Pam Davis, Justin Ponder, Jake Ponder, Lindsey Browne, Kristi Foldetta, Janae Ponder, Ryan Payne, Jacquelyn Payne, Andrew Ponder, and great grandchildren Hailey Foster, Dain Davis, Gracie Davis, Jospeh Ponder. Visitation will be held Wednesday December 12 at 6-8 PM at Paul U. Lee La Porte Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be held Thursday December 13 at 2 PM at La Porte Community Church with a graveside following at La Porte Cemetery.
