Margurite Roark October 07, 1923 - March 26, 2007 Margurite “Margie” Simmons Roark, 83, of La Porte peacefully passed on March 26, 2007. She was born October 7, 1923 in Bosque County, Texas to Lois and Proctor Simmons. Margie was a long time member of La Porte Community Church. She enjoyed the La Porte Senior Citizen Center and had been active there since joining in the 1980’s. Margie was the “Queen Mother” or founding member of the Bayshore Babes, a chapter of the Red Hat Society. She is preceded in death by her parents Lois and Proctor Simmons, brothers Autrey Baskins and Melvin Simmons, her first husband, Jesse J. Roark, Jr. and second husband, Paul J. Hultquist. She is survived by her daughter, Sheila Alban and husband A. J. “Buzzy” Alban III of La Porte, grandchildren Jennifer Shuler and husband Larry Shuler of Round Rock; grandson A. J. “Rowdy” Alban IV of La Porte; great-grandchildren Larry Allen Shuler, Jr. and Isis Alexandra Shuler of Round Rock, and sister Peggy Knox of Bedford. Visitation will be held Friday, March 30th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Paul U. Lee-La Porte Chapel. Funeral services to be held at La Porte Community Church on Saturday, March 31st at 10:00 a.m., followed by a private interment.
