Dorothy Louise Robertson
September 01, 1955 - June 06, 2014
Dorothy was born September 1, 1955 in Toronto Canada the third child of Evelyn and James Robertson, and they moved to Texas around the time she was three. Her parents were both from Evansville Indiana where many cousins and Aunts and Uncles still live.
She grew up in Spring Branch on the west side of town, and attended high school at Spring Woods. She graduated from Texas Women’s University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She worked as an oncology nurse for many years, and met and married Dick Robertson in 1985. Dorothy took time off from nursing to raise her family and returned to nursing at Houston Hospice ten years ago. Her beloved co-workers gently nursed her through her eleven months of illness. They pampered her to the very end at the Houston hospice where she worked.
She is survived by her husband Richard, Daughter Jessica Robertson, son Dean and granddaughter Miculka (mic chul kah), her brother Scott and his husband James Swope, Kenneth and his wife Sandra, and Paul and his husband Roberto Batlle.
Dorothy was a loving mother who strove to do all she could for her children. She fought diligently year after year for Dean’s special needs rights in the public schools, always securing his needs and care.
As Dean grew up she returned to her nursing career and worked at Houston Hospice for the last 10 years where her love and compassion were put to very good use.
Dorothy loved the outdoors, tending her cherished plants and numerous flower gardens. She was an avid collector and dealer of crafts and vintage collectables and antiques, which filled her home with its unmistakable charm.
Dorothy will be sadly missed and remembered fondly by all of those whose lives she has touched
A memorial service will be held Monday June 9th, 2014 at 11:30AM at Paul U. Lee Funeral Home.
