Obituary of Abelino Bentancort Sanchez

Abelino Bentancort Sanchez July 23, 1930 - October 31, 2015 Abelino Bentancourt Sanchez Abelino Bentancourt (A.B. or Bele) Sanchez of La Porte Texas, age of 85 yrs, died peacefully on October 31, 2015 at Kindred Hospital of heart failure. A.B. was born July 23, 1930 in San Diego Texas, to Romulo V. and Rosa B. Sanchez and brother to siblings Francesca "Francis", Elida "Lela", and Romulo "Rolo". He graduated in 1948 from San Diego High School, and from the University of North Texas in 1952. After college A.B. worked in oil exploration and while stationed off the coast of Guiria Venezuela met the love of his life, Iris Josefina Perez. A.B. and Iris settled in La Porte in 1965 when he went to work for NASA. They raised their family and lived modestly while enjoying family vacations to Europe and frequent trips to Venezuela. He retired from NASA after 25 years of service to become full time family "Patron" enjoying his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and traveling the world. A.B. is survived by loving daughters Elizabeth Sanchez McCorquodale (husband John), Sandra Sanchez (Crump), and Katherine Rosa Sanchez (Absher), grandchildren David and William McCorquodale, Forrest and Shane Crump, and Nicolas and Daniel Absher, 7 great grandchildren and sisters Francis and Lela. Services will be held November 7, 2015 at Paul U. Lee funeral home in La Porte. Viewing is from 10am to 2pm on Saturday followed immediately by the memorial service. A reception after the service: 14927 Sun Harbor Dr., Houston Texas. In lieu of usual remembrances donations can be made to any diabetes foundation in his memory.
