Jill Ann Satcher August 25, 1950 - November 08, 2012 Jill Ann (Cutshall) Satcher was born August 25th, 1950 to the late Ross Lawrence Cutshall and Ivadele Gertrude “Gert” (Pearce) Cutshall in Hazelton, Iowa. She has one sister Susan Lee (Cutshall) Rigdon. Jill lived on the family farm in Fayette County near Arlington, Iowa until the family moved to Oelwein, Iowa in 1966. In 1968, according to her sister, Jill decided she needed a change, so with family already there, she moved to Paris, Texas. Shortly after her arrival in Texas she met, fell in love, and married Jerry Don Satcher on January 23rd, 1970 in Paris, Texas. They have one son, Scott Craig Satcher, born on Jill’s 20th birthday. Jill, Don, and Scott continued to live in Paris for a short while, but eventually settled in La Porte, Texas in 1972. Jill worked as an office clerk at the Vista Baywood Apartment for a short time, all the while being a mom to a precocious little boy and wife to a Harris County Deputy Sheriff. Around 1978, Jill found her church home at the small First United Methodist Church on San Jacinto Street in old La Porte. She actively supported the church with her prayer, her presence, her gifts and her service. She became Miss Jill when the church began its Mother’s Day out Program and in May of 1983 became Jill Satcher the Church Secretary and later the Office Manager. Jill diligently served both as a member of the staff and as a member of the church for 30 years outlasting 8 Pastors and 6 Associate Pastors. Along the way, Jill’s precocious boy grew up, met and married Paula Jean (Sanderson) and blessed the family with the Princess, Victoria Hope. After retirement, Jill did what she loved best, spending time with her family and friends both near and far away. Jill and Don traveled throughout their life together, out to the deserts of West Texas, the Texas Hill County, the corn fields of Iowa, the Casinos of Louisiana, the Mountains of Colorado, Big D, the Glaciers of Alaska, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. After a long and hard struggle with lung disease, Jill went home on November 8th, 2012 to be with her God and her friends and family that she missed so dearly. Visitation will be held on Monday November 12th, 2012 at Paul U. Lee Funeral Home from 6:00PM to 8:00PM and services will be held at First United Methodist Church of La Porte on Tuesday November 13th, at 10:00AM. In lieu of usual remembrances donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church of La Porte Beyond Limits.
