Royce Leon Sedotal, M.D. October 02, 1929 - January 13, 2016 Royce L. Sedotal, M. D., 86 of Houston, Texas, passed away Wednesday January 13, 2016, from an aggressive infection complicated by congestive heart failure and kidney failure. He was born in Port Arthur, Texas. Royce was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Carolyn, in September. Before becoming a doctor, he joined the United States Navy serving three years honorably as a Hospitalman. Prior to completing his medical degree at the University of Oklahoma in 1968, he attended The University of Texas. His time at UT was a highlight and he was a Longhorn all the days of his life with burnt orange blood coursing through his veins. After medical school, he completed his residency in radiology at Herman Hospital in the medical center in 1968. One year later he opened up his practice in Family medicine in Houston. During his career he was Chief-of-Staff in the 1970’s at Spring Branch Hospital and Chairman of the Utilization Review at Spring Branch Hospital during a tumultuous time in medicine managing it all with finesse, calm leadership and caring yet logical processes. As a doctor, he is best known for two things; personal care for his patients and the gift of diagnosis. Dr. Sedotal’s patients knew he gave his complete, undivided attention and heartfelt care to each person making personal calls and visits throughout the years. He was interested in his patients and remembered every detail about their lives and health. Dr. Sedotal was gifted with the amazing ability of diagnosis from which patients, friends and family benefitted until his last days. Dr. Sedotal is survived by his son Royce Jr., his son’s children, Royce III and Kyra Lynn; his daughter, Cindy and her husband, Andy and their children Victoria and Trevor.
