Charlotte K. Boudreaux
December 10, 1932 - November 30, 2015
Charlotte K. (Swingle) Boudreaux was born on December 10, 1932, in Port Clinton, Ohio to John and Gladys Swingle, died in LaPorte, Texas on November 30, 2015, and attained her long awaited goal to be with our Lord. She is preceded in death by her husband, Cyprien (Tippy), infant sons Michael and John, sister Pat Hurst, and granddaughter April Polasek. She is survived by her seven children: Tippy Boudreaux and wife Antoinette, Debbie Driscoll and husband Chuck, Manly Boudreaux and wife Dee, Monica Boudreaux, Dan Boudreaux, Diana Polasek and husband David and Bob Boudreaux, her sister Jackie Roder and husband Herb, 16 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She graduated from LaPorte High School in May of 1950. Charlotte and Tippy were married at St. Mary’s Seminary in LaPorte on June 4, 1950. Five years and four children later, she became a Catholic. Thus began her devotion to St. Mary’s Church, her practice of traditional Catholic family values and her care of many children.
Besides being a loving wife, mother and friend Charlotte also was employed in various jobs: as a waitress, as a clerk for city and county elections, at the city of LaPorte’s secretary office and lastly as docent for the LaPorte Heritage Society Railroad and Depot Museum.
She was a devoted member of St. Mary’s Church for over 60 years. She volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul and sewed baptismal bibs with Angeles Sullivan for 30 years. She was a lector, commentator and Eucharistic Minister, as well as a rosary maker, which led to her helping start St. Mary’s Rosary Makers. Through the years, she held various offices including St. Mary’s Alter
Society president and secretary, Bay Area Deanery secretary and president, Galveston-Houston Archdiocese Council of Catholic Women president and vice president, and National Council of Catholic Women Province Director. She was a member of the Nominating Board Council of Catholic Women and a member of the board of the LaPorte Heritage Society.
Charlotte’s devotion to her faith, our Lord Jesus, and His Blessed Mother was the foundation for her becoming the loving wife and mother she was. From her spiritual home at St. Mary’s, she filled her own home with the same love and faith, always serving others with a smile. She truly was an inspiration to all. Visitation will be Wednesday December 2, 2015 from 5pm to 7pm with Rosary to begin at 7pm at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Services will be December 3, 2015 at 11am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in LaPorte with internment immediately following at Grandview Cemetery. Remembrances in her name can be made to St. Mary’s Rosary Hall or A-Med Community Hospice, 8901 Emmett F Lowry Expressway Suite B, Texas City, TX 77591.
