Ella (“Ellie”) Mae Trujillo
1943 – 2016
Ellie, a longtime resident of La Porte, Texas, went to be with the Lord on May 5, 2016. Ellie was born October 28, 1943 to William and Virginia Lange in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Ellie retired from La Porte Independent School District after 20+ years of service, but continued to volunteer at the La Porte Elementary School library and book fairs for many years after retirement. Ellie also spent several hours each week volunteering at the Gilmore Elementary School library, sharing her passionate love of reading with every child she met. Ellie is survived by her loving daughters, or the three angels as she called them: Tana Trujillo Deshayes of Humble, Texas; Lori Trujillo Lewis and husband Casey of Huffman, Texas; and Alyssa Trujillo O’Brien and husband Michael of League City, Texas. Ellie had seven grandchildren and was a devoted and loving “Mammaw” to each: Matthew and Aiden Deshayes; Laynie and Casen Lewis; and Brennan, Blake and Ainsley O’Brien. Services will begin at 6:00pm on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Paul U. Lee Funeral Home, 201 S. 3rd St., La Porte, Texas 77571 with visitation one hour prior to service. Following the services, a “Life Celebration” will be held at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 803 S. 8th St., La Porte, Texas 77571.
In honor and tribute to Ellie’s love of reading, and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to “Reading is Fundamental” in her name, www.rif.org.
