.
Sara Ouida January West, 91, went peacefully to be with her loving husband, Jack, and her Lord Jesus Christ, February 23, 2012. She was born in Dallas, Texas on August 6, 1920 to Robert. E. January and Jimmie Jewel McClure January. She attended Highland Park High School and Southern Methodist University where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. She fell in love and married John R. (Jack) West, a young handsome Aggie (it was the uniform) on August 31, 1940. Although always loving Dallas they made Houston their home in 1951. She loved her home, her family and a wide circle of very close and special friends that would look for just about any excuse to be together but they especially enjoyed playing bridge and tennis, dancing, sewing and traveling. She was a very gracious hostess and loved to entertain in her home or at their farm in Brenham. She loved the Lord and served in many ways through her church home, Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church. Most of all she loved to be with her five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren who called her GG and always brought a smile to her face. She lived a full and gracious life devoted to her husband and giving selfless love and encouragement to family and friends. She will be greatly missed.
Quida is preceded in death by her loving husband Jack and her sisters, Ruby January Ellzey and Reba January Ross. She is survived by her sons, Rob West and wife Linda, Alan West and wife Marilyn, grandchildren Carol Bleyle and husband Mike, Kristi Craig and husband Bruce, Courtney Follett and husband Jeff, Ryan West and wife Karen, Natalie Bechtol and husband Carter, and great grandchildren Jack and Kate Craig, Cole, Blake and Brooks Follett, Cade, Ryland and Addi West, Currie and Mary Mae Bechtol.
