Obituary of Melba Irene Wood

Melba Irene Wood April 01, 1929 - September 17, 2007 Melba Wood, 78, of La Porte passed away into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday September 17, 2007. She was born April 1, 1929 in Dallas, TX to Nellie and Paul Norwine. Mrs. Wood was a long time member of Bayshore Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband Clark “Ed” Wood, brothers and sister Gene Norwine, Charles “Dickie” Norwine, Juanita Crocker, and “Baby Boy” Norwine, daughter Karen Davenport, and son George Wood. She is survived by brothers Jack Norwine and wife Polly, Bobby Norwine and wife Gina, sisters Darlene Kemmerle and husband Ralph, Sheryll Tieman and husband Glen, children Elizabeth Gilbert and husband Roy, Bruce Wood and wife Debbie, Ronald Wood, Pete Wood, John Wood, grandchildren Brandy, I’Onika, Byron, Robert, Jeremiah, Jennifer, and great grandchildren Caitlin, Christopher, Kayla, Robert Jr., Madison, Michael, Heaven Lee. Visitation will be held Wednesday September 19, 2007 at 6-8 PM at Paul U. Lee La Porte Funeral Home. Services will be held Thursday September 20, 2007 at 10 AM with a graveside following at Grand View Memorial Park.
