Obituary of Anne Yoder

Please share a memory of Anne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Anne Yoder July 28, 1922 - July 23, 2017 Anne Yoder wife for 54 years of Dr. Nelson Yoder, until his decease in 1997, was born in Port Chester, NY, on July 28, 1922. She was beloved of her four sons, Nelson, James, Wynne, and Daniel Yoder and her 18 grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren. Anne passed to be with our Lord, on July 23 following a brief illness, just short of her 95th birthday. She never met a stranger, always displaying an inquiring mind into the lives of whomever was near her. She had wonderful friendships that spanned more years than her married life, because of her sincere interest in others. Whether saving coupons, articles or papers for someone, or reading a book to someone who couldn’t read, she was constantly thinking of others. She wore a smile for everyone and always enjoyed a good conversation on the life adventures of others, or current events. Following her 50+ year residence in La Porte, TX, and temporary stays in Pasadena and Livingston, she resided for the last 4+ years at the Village of Meyerland in Houston, where she is remembered fondly by many. As an avid gardener, she cultivated beautiful surroundings at her home in La Porte, and was esteemed by the local children who would clamor to enjoy gummy bears and the family pool. Anne greatly enjoyed playing Scrabble and remained an avid player well into her 90’s. Services will be held on July 29, 2017 at Paul U. Lee Funeral Home, 201 S. 3rd Street in La Porte. Visitation and viewing from 9-11 am. Followed by a memorial service at the funeral home from 11 am – 12 noon, then a brief graveside service at Forest Park Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston. After the graveside service, please join us for a reception at Andrew and Dana Yoder’s home, located at 288 Westwood Dr., League City. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to a charity of your choice or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
