Obituary of Leighton Keith Younger

Memorial Service Friday, May 25, 2018 1:00 PM Leighton Keith Younger August 13, 1932 - May 20, 2018 The Reverend Leighton Keith Younger, 85, a priest in The Episcopal Diocese of Texas, died Sunday, May 20th. Leighton+ will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 20 years, Sarah/”Sally”, his daughter Lisa (Duane), and his step children Christine (Charlie), James (Susan), Clint, and Nicholas (Lori). Leighton will also be fondly remembered by his eleven grandchildren, Angie (George), Chris (Brittany), Adam, Katie, Neal, Abby, Sophie, Chase, Tyler, Josh, and Sarah, by his two great grandchildren, Jiles and Remi, and by his brothers Ken (Jamie) and Bill (Carol). Leighton was predeceased by his brother Lovic Younger, Jr. and his son Keith. The Reverend Leighton Younger was ordained to Sacred Order of the Priesthood, June 14, 1965 and served as the Vicar of Grace Episcopal Church, Houston, and Associate Rector of Holy Spirit Episcopal Church, Houston. Leighton also served as the Rector of St. John’s Episcopal Church, La Porte for twenty-five and one-half years, where he was honored as Rector Emeritus. A celebration of The Eternal Life in Christ of The Reverend Leighton Younger will be held Friday, May 25, 2018, one o’clock in the afternoon, St. John’s Episcopal Church, 815 South Broadway, La Porte, Texas 77571. The Right Reverend Jeff W. Fisher, Bishop Suffragan of the Episcopal Diocese of Texas, will preside at the service. A brief interment service will follow the funeral with the family gathered at St. John’s Episcopal Church Columbarium. A reception will be hosted in Faith Hall on St. John’s campus.
