So sorry to hear this sad news. Ivy and I were the same age, grew up on the same block, and were classmates at Bannockburn elementary. My condolences to all her family and friends.

I'm so, so sad to hear of Ivy's passing. She was such a wonderful person--smart, funny, and FUN--and always with a smile. I think we became friends in a 7th grade math class at Pyle, and then in 1966 my family moved to Bannockburn and we spent a lot more time together, especially at the pool. Her whole family--both Ash families-- was lovely, and my heart goes out to them all, and to her husband, children and grandchild. I'll never forget her, and am so thankful she was my friend. Lisa (Johnston) Howorth, Oxford, Mississippi.

Ivy was a wonderful, fun-loving classmate at Walt Whitman High School. I was grateful to read she had such a wonderful family life and saddened that it was cut short long before it should've been. May her memory be a blessing for her family and friends, and her community.

Ivy was the ultimate neighbor. She was so much fun to chat with. I called her a fierce warrior because she fought so tirelessly. She was immensely proud of her family and she never failed to keep me up to date on how she was doing, or that Laura was moving back to Texas from Chicago, getting married, then expecting! She always asked about our boys and was quick to tell them, "come get this check", when she generously donated to our son's Track & Cross Country fundraisers at Dawson.
I will miss our talks and her upbeat personality. God has certainly gained one fabulous angel! God bless, comfort and give her family strength in the days ahead.

Ivy was a loving and faithful friend. She was always truthful and was not afraid to offer you her opinion. She helped me design many a jewelry piece while she was at Pearland Jewelry.
I loved her spirit and her courage as she fought for health
I love you Ivy

Ivy was the best friend I ever had. We met in Okinawa in the late 80s at the Officer's Wives' gift shop where we both worked. We continued our friend ship when we both moved back to San Antonio where we spent every Wednesday shopping until we dropped. We also tried to go antiquing as much as possible in the San Antonio area and in the Texas hill country. We talked to each every day when they were both in San Antonio and in Houston. I loved her so very much. We were sisters at heart and saw each as much as possible. When they moved to Houston Ivy and Don would come here or we would go there as much as possible and we would antique in both areas. Once they had to make a very difficult emergency trip to take refuge here to avoid a huge hurricane. She knew where every antique store was in Houston and loved driving us around to check things out. We would also from time to time meet half way in Round Top for their big antique show. We loved her so very much and we will miss her dearly.

Ivy had a favorite term of endearment...”sweetie.” She ended phone conversations with “take care, sweetie, and give my love to...”. She gave away a lot of love and was the sweetest of friends herself! We’ll remember Ivy with a smile. Our deepest sympathy to Don, Laura, and family.

Ivy (Avu, as my uncle nicknamed her) was my first cousin and our families were very close growing up. Although, as far back as I can remember, Ivy was shorter than me, I always looked up to her. Besides having a fiesty and very compelling personality with a huge smile and laugh to match, she was the picture of a beautiful blond China doll! Ivy has always been, for me, the epitome of the phrase, "Good things come in little packages" only in her case it was more appropriate to use the phrase, "Precious people come in little packages!" Ivy, you will live in my heart forever surrounded by love. Please give Uncle Boo a big hug and kiss from Debebble.

Ivy and I go way back to elementary school and hebrew school. I hadn't seen her since high school, but she was one of my all-time favorite people. She was always hip and full of enthusiasm and energy. I remember at a hebrew school dance, probably 6th grade, I brought a bunch of records -- they were all pretty nerdy. Ivy brought all the cool stuff that all the hip kids knew (Beach Boys & more).

I loved Ivy like a sister and shared secrets and family stories with her. We shopped, cruised, cried together, cursed life at times together but always laughed together. We talked every day until she got sick and I will miss her forever.

Ivy was one of the dearest friends you could have in your life. I was so blessed to meet her in San Antonio, Texas. Ivy, my son and I spent many days together always having fun and laughing. We spent the last couple years reminiscing about those times and the memories we made together. I always knew I had a friend in Ivy. She was a real GEM. I am going to miss our almost daily talks. My heart is broken as well as many, many others. One thing I will always remember is that when I would text her that I loved her, she would reply back “ I love you more.”
