Obituary of Twila Lucille Lewsader
Twila Lucille Lewsader, 94, passed away Sunday, October 7, 2018. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ollie and Nellie Lockard; her loving husband, Harold Lee Lewsader; sons, Gary, Stephen and Michael Lewsader, daughter, Anita JoAnn Bass; brothers, Ronald, Ray, Chet and Jim Lockard; sister, Thelma Easterling; and great grandson, Corey Dixon. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Benita Adams, Linda Opel and husband, Kent; brother, Jack Lockard and wife Mary Nell, sister, Betty Jennings; grandchildren, Kimberly Hoffman, Steven Opel, Marshal Pipkin, Venissa Pipkin, Shawn Bass, Aaron Adams; nine great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren; and a host of other family and dear friends.
In 1923 Dan Leighty and Harry Kittson came to the little village where Twila’s parents lived. Those men were living and preaching the Gospel just like Peter and John did in the New Testament days. Twila learned to love the things of God, and the fellowship of love for others, that Dan and Harry taught. The same faith brought her and Harold together and they married in 1945. They had Sunday morning worship meetings in their home for many years. Twila loved sharing truths of the Bible with those of like faith whom she met with.
Harold and Twila moved from Illinois to Texas in 1961 and started a restaurant, Harold’s Country Kitchen in Donna, which they operated together with their children. Twila loved feeding and helping people.
Twila always saw the good in everyone.
Twila’s passion from her youth had been learning about God and his Son, and working to graft their spirit into her being. Twila was like the woman mentioned in Proverbs 31:10 “Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.”
