Obituary of Georgie Emma Evans
Georgie Emma (Wenske) Evans, 84, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 23, 2018. She is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Julie Wenske; her loving husband, Curtis W. Evans; brother, Melvin Wenske; and sisters, Alice Kasowski, Edna Garbs and Ethel Janecka. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Kevin Evans and fiancé, Maria Garcia; daughter, Carol Kimmick and husband. Keith; sister, Eugenia Hollis; and a host of other family and friends.
Georgie was born in Moulton, Texas and went to school in the farming community of Komensky, Texas before moving to Houston as a young lady. Upon arriving in Houston, she worked at Nabisco manufacturing and enjoyed spending time with her girlfriends and going to dances on the weekends. It was at one of these dances that Georgie met, fell in love with and eventually married Curtis. They spent 39 wonderful years together until his passing in 1995. Georgie enjoyed a 19-year career at Sears in the catalog sales department where she won many awards for top salesperson. She and Curtis loved traveling and visited a large portion of the United States and several European countries. Georgie was strong in her faith and a devoted Catholic at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church for more than 60 years. She was an active member of Catholic Daughters – Court Regina Coeli #1959, the Mount Carmel New Generation Seniors and St. Helen’s Super Seniors group in Pearland. Georgie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A visitation and rosary for Georgie will be held Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. The visitation will be held from 5:30 until 8:00 pm with the rosary recited by the Mt. Carmel Catholic Daughters at 6:30 pm. The funeral mass will take place Thursday, November 29, 2018 at 11:00 am at St. Helen Catholic Church, 2209 Old Alvin Rd., Pearland, Texas 77581 with Father Abelardo Cobos officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
