Obituary of Joyce Hill

Joyce Hill, 89, passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2019.  She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Norma James; her loving husband, Billy Thomas Hill; brother, Jimmy James; and sister, Charlotte Jones.  Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Jackie Hill, Karen Hill Netzel, Sandra Hill Fisher and husband, Chris; step-daughter, Glena Collins; sister-in-law, Madeline Hill; grandchildren, Leslie Waddell, Chris Netzel, Lauren Kutch and husband, Gabriel, Emily Fisher, Carly Fisher; great grandchildren, Casey, Cayden, Jaxon, Hudson, and Brooklyn; and a host of other family and dear friends.

Joyce, or as many of you fondly referred to her as Granny, lived an incredible 89 years and we are all blessed to have been impacted by her life.  When you think of Joyce, you think of a woman who always put others before herself.  Such an empathetic and selfless woman, she dedicated many years of her life to the Lord.  She worked in prison ministry, mission work, and taught everyone she encountered about walking in faith.  Even in her days in the hospital she was ministering – to nurses, doctors, and all who she came in contact with. Always putting others first, her legacy will live on through all of us and all the lives she has touched.  She has set an example for all of us to emulate; to live a life full of joy, faith, happiness, and unconditional love.  The love Joyce had for her family and friends was unwavering.  She saw the best in everyone and treated everyone like a member of her own family and was such an inspiration to all.  

Joyce was such a fun person to be around!  She enjoyed playing cards, solitaire on her tablet, reading the Bible, and spending time with loved ones.  Her laugh was contagious, and her smile brought joy to everyone around her.  Watching her over the last few years with her great grandchildren has been such a blessing. And how lucky are they to have had these years with her!  Her entire family feels so grateful for Joyce to have been part of their family.  She is simply the one of the greatest women any of us have ever known and Heaven is rejoicing from her arrival.  

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Joyce’s honor to the First Baptist Church Pearland Debt Retirement at 3005 Pearland Parkway, Pearland, Texas 77581.

Services for Joyce will be held at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581.  The visitation will take place Friday, January 18, 2019 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm.  The funeral service will be held Saturday afternoon, January 19, 2019 at 1:30 pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Chuck Schneider officiating.  Interment will follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
