Obituary of Raymond Joel Bailey

Raymond Joel Bailey, 81, of Deer Park, Texas, passed away on January 15, 2019. He is preceded in death by his mother Ethel Wright Bailey. Left to cherish his memory are, his loving wife of 61 years, Connie Bailey; son, Doug Bailey and wife, Susie; daughter, Laine Bailey-Dubicz; grandchildren, Kassidy, Cameron, Luke, Leah, Jessica, Shelby; and a host of other family and dear friends.

Raymond worked for the United States Postal Service for 35 years and went on to spend 10 years with the Texas Department of Corrections. He was strong in his faith and a longtime member of the Southside Church of Christ. The simple things in life meant the most to him; like, just being at the lake, sitting on the porch and swapping stories with his grandchildren. Everyone who knew Raymond knew his favorite joke, which was answering the phone “Ray’s Pier Fishing Guide Service” or “Ray’s Hunting and Fishing Lodge”, while sitting on the porch with Connie and his faithful dog, Bayli. He always made sure to tell whoever would listen, “take an extra moment to cling to your family, cast a tight line, reel in the catch of the day, and find happiness in the true beauty of nature”. Even though we all know Raymond is at peace in Heaven, with his family and friends, he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Raymond was a good man who had a heart of gold. He loved with his whole heart and shared his experiences as well as  his love of life and the outdoors with all of us. He left behind such beautiful memories and will never be far away.
