William Paul Reid, 69, of Houston, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2019. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alwida Surbaugh and Tommie Allen Reid, Sr. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife; Lois Phillips, daughter; Cristina Reid, son; Aaron Paul Reid, grandchildren; Dylan, Trevor, Meagan, sisters; Gloria Ludtke, Peggy Linton, Sherry Reid, brother; Robert Reid, many nieces and nephews, and a host of other family and dear friends.
Bill, as he was known, joined the army in 1970 at the young age of 21. He volunteered to serve in Vietnam for two terms and was honorably discharged in 1976. He was a true patriot who loved his country, and always celebrated veteran’s day and Memorial Day. Bill flew a flag at his home in Crosby and enjoyed sitting on the front porch with his family, friends and beloved dog. While in the army, Bill attended William and Mary University, studying police work. When he returned home, he joined the Houston Police Academy and served the city of Houston for over 6 years. Bill loved sports, fishing and working on cars. He had a big heart and was always willing to help anyone who needed him. Bill was an amazing dad, brother, friend, and neighbor, and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
