Obituary of Ned Edwin Williamson
Ned Edwin Williamson, 88, passed away on Monday, April 22, 2019. He is preceded in death by parents, Paul and Clara Williamson; daughters, Phyllis Bowers; brothers, Fred Williamson, Jim Williamson; sisters, Lila Williamson and Ann Curtis. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 63 years, Audrey Mae Williamson; son Ed Williamson and wife, Donna; brother, Bill Williamson and wife, Louise; sister-in-law, Mary Williamson; grandchildren, Michael Bowers and wife, Marilyn, Mattie Novosad and husband, Nik, Seth Williamson; and a host of other family and dear friends.
Ned was born on April 14, 1931, in Franklin, North Carolina, at his home on Addington Mill Road. He graduated class of 1949, from Rabun Gap – Nacoochee School. Shortly after graduation, Ned joined the Air Force and served in the Korean War, stationed in Pusan, South Korea. He married the love of his life, Audrey Drake, on April 20, 1956. After 38 years of service, Ned retired from Metallic Steel Building. He loved to be outdoors, whether it was shredding his pasture, feeding the birds, spending time in the barn, or hoeing the garden. However, he seemed to get the most joy from harvesting the fruits of his labor and sharing them with his friends and neighbors. Ned suffered from a stroke in 2015 while feeding the birds. He was unable to live at home and moved to Parkview Manor in Weimar, to be closer to Ed. He was a natural born prankster. Even while at the nursing home he was still puttering around in his wheel chair, turning off lights and all the while giggling when the ladies would squeal. Ned won the “Best Selfie Contest” at the nursing home at Christmas, with his therapist. They received the most likes on Facebook, 561. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Memorial Service for Ned will be held Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 11:00 am at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581 with Pastor David Thompson officiating.
