Obituary of William Corbett Conway
We mourn the loss of William C. Conway (Bill), 76 who entered into eternal life on Sunday, June 2, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Valerie (Normandin) Conway. Bill was born January 12, 1943, in Waterbury, Connecticut, youngest of 8 children and son of Francis and Theresa Conway. He is survived by sister Mary Reynolds of Thomaston, CT and pre-deceased by brothers, Michael, Jack, Joey, Bucky and Frank Jr. Conway; and sister, Betty Conway. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Valerie Conway; son, Darren Conway and wife, Erika; daughter, Andrea Smith and husband, Dallas, daughter Jennifer Soderstorm and husband. Daniel; daughter Candace Conway and daughter Samantha Finnegan, grandchildren, Lauren, Kendal, Ethan, Hudson, Chynna, Caroline, Jackson; Josh, Emma and Peter and host of other family and dear friends.
After graduating Kaynor Technical School for drafting, he accepted a job with Farrel Corp. in Ansonia, CT. He transferred to a position in the Houston area in 1981 and settled in La Porte, Texas. He is a member of Knights of Columbus, St. Hyacinth and St. Mary’s Church.
Bill had a great sense of humor and was always telling what his granddaughter refers to as “grandpa jokes”, that always made us laugh. His grandchildren brought him the biggest joy. He loved tending to his vegetable garden, cooking his incredible spaghetti sauce and banana bread for family and friends to enjoy. He enjoyed watching episodes of Seinfeld, Westerns and taking trips with his wife Valerie. He was a longtime fan of the NY Yankees and always got excited watching the Rockets and Astros. He also found pleasure in spoiling his cat “Kitty Baby”.
We will miss the way he always made you feel welcome by offering you every type of drink he had until you said yes, his attention to detail when making a simple cup of tea, his quirky jokes, his thoughtful and considerate heart. He is loved beyond measure and will be missed deeply.
