Obituary of Abnash Chander Jain

Avinash Chander Jain, 72, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2019.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Ajit Prasad and Gian Vati Jain; and sister, Vinod Jain and brother-in-law, Bhupinder Jain. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 45 years, Sunita Jain; son, Anish Jain and wife, Julie Filion; granddaughter, Sophie Jain; daughter, Samina Jain; brothers, Ramnik Jain and wife, Pratibha; Someshwar Jain and wife, Rashmi; sister, Sneh Jain and husband, Chander; loving nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and dear friends.

Avinash moved from Nakodar, Punjab in India to England in 1962 when he was 15 years old. He worked diligently, cared for his family, and received his Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from Birmingham University as one of the first Indian students. He completed his Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from Nottingham University in 1973. Over the course of his career, Avinash spent 38 years at Exxon, working and living across the world in England, the Netherlands, Malaysia, Singapore, New Jersey, and Texas. No matter where in the world his work took him, his home and heart was always with the Houston community. Avinash was an avid reader, and while his health allowed, enjoyed walking, being outdoors and exploring the world. He valued travel and understood the world to be large place full of wonder.

Services for Avinash will be held Sunday, July 21, 2019 at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581.  The family will receive guests from 2:00 until 3:00 pm with the service starting at 3:00 pm.
