Obituary of David Joseph Romeo

David Joseph Romeo passed into Glory August 8th, 2010. He was the first born child from the union of Walter A. Romeo and Frances A. Hill Romeo. Born February 1, 1953 in Galveston, TX, David was the eldest of seven children.David Romeo was preceded in death by his mother, Frances and both sets of grandparents. He leaves behind to join him his wife Brenda Romeo, father Walter A. Romeo (Mary), son Brent Romeo, daughter/niece Ariadne Pollitt, six siblings: Walter Romeo (Barbara), Renee Ruff (Carlos), Michael Romeo (Karen), Andre Romeo, Yvonne Romeo Joseph, and Susan Harris (Thomas). Also he leaves behind multitudes of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, stepsiblings and friends. In 1986, David met and married Brenda Joyce Lee. The wonderful couple raised their son Brent Jason in the Alvin area before moving to Pearland. David adopted his niece Ariadne, after her mother’s death, and raised her as his precious daughter. David loved caring for and raising children and he served as an outstanding role model for his many nieces and nephews. In his last years David was overcome with happiness and love with the experiences he had with his grandchildren Allen James Hensley and Cadence Joy Romeo. David spent his early childhood in Houston attending St. Mary’s Catholic School and participating in the altar service of the parish. He attended Cullen Jr. High , was a Boy Scout, and was an avid swimmer. In his freshman year at Jones High School he was in the band. Upon moving to the Alvin-Manvel area, David was a member of the high school marching and concert band as well as a member of the basketball and football teams. He graduated from Alvin High School in 1972. Always skillfully and athletically inclined David took on the sports of Golf and Bowling excelling in and loving both sports. He attended Alvin Community College and began working for Monsanto Corporation. He was employed with them until his death, moving up with the company from the mail room into the position of Training Coordinator. He will be greatly missed by those whose lives he influenced. The visitation will take place on Friday, August 13, 2010 at the Clayton Funeral Home Chapel from 6pm to 8pm. A Rosary will be recited at 9:15am on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and the Funeral Mass will immediately follow at 10am with Celebrant Rev. Patrick Cummings officiating. The church is located at 4600 Reed Rd., Houston, Texas 77051. The burial will take place following the Funeral Mass at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Dickinson, Texas.
