Obituary of Alicia Maldonado Obando
Alicia Maldonado Obando, 81, passed away Sunday, July 21, 2019. She is preceded in death by her parents, Carlos and Elisa Maldonado; and brother, Carlos Maldonado. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Ricardo Antonio Obando Jr and Carlos Arturo Obando; daughter, Diana Patricia Trojan and husband, Joseph; grandchildren, Michael Alexander, Ricardo Antonio, Victoria Elizabeth and Hunter Wayne; and a host of other family and dear friends.
Alicia was born in 1937 in Bogota, Colombia, married Ricardo Obando in 1970 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church and had three children. She lived in Bellaire for over 40 years and was very active within the community. Her love for children brought her to work in this field for many years starting as a Daycare Chaperone at Bellaire United Methodist Church, a Spanish teacher at Mrs. Wagner's School, a crossing guard at Horn Elementary, and the Facilities Manager at Faith Lutheran Church.
Her radiant smile and energy were contagious as she left a positive impact on all who were in her presence and she cared for. Always putting others first and being a supportive and caring mother were her priorities in life. Alicia was an avid bowler, loved to dance and play bingo.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, august 17. 2019 at 2:00 pm at Faith Lutheran Church, 4600 Bellaire Blvd., Bellaire, TX 77401. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm and a reception will follow the service in the Faith Center.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Faith House Ministry at Faith Lutheran Church.
