Please share a memory of Richard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Richard Van Tassell, “THE BEST PAPA EVER”, 86, passed gently away from this life on Thursday, August 8, 2019, around 5:35PM, in Manvel, TX. He was born on July 29, 1933 in Suffern, NY to Boyd Van Tassell Sr. and Roseleane Conklin.
He met and married the love of his life, Jean Van Tassell, from Lawrence, Massachusetts and have been married for more than 50 years.
A long time resident of Manvel, TX for over 30 years, he served in the U.S. Army and fought in the Korean War. Richard owned Anchorage Air, prior to retiring at Gulf Coast Air Conditioning, with over 20 years of employment. He loved life and enjoyed spending time with family. After retirement, he spent most of his time attending his grandchildren’s activities and creating projects around the house to work on. He also had many friends at our local Wal-Mart that he would chat with and if he hasn’t been in a while, they would ask about him. His most recent passion was watching the Houston Texans and Astros on TV, while smoking his cigarettes. He wouldn’t miss a game.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Boyd Van Tassell, Raymond Van Tassell, Albert Van Tassell, Robert Van Tassell and his sisters Ruth Parliament and Dorothy Van Tassell. Left with cherished memories are his wife, Jean Van Tassell, daughter, April Van Tassell, son, Phillip Deschene and John Van Tassell, daughter-in-law, Heather Van Tassell, grandchildren, Fayth Van Tassell and Hope Van Tassell, sisters, Beverly Kennedy and Arlene Kober, dog, Fawn Van Tassell.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
