Obituary of William Clark O'Neill

William C. O’Neill, Jr. died on September 2, 2019 in Pearland, Texas. He was born in Fort Benning, Georgia on March 1, 1942 to William and Florence O’Neill. In 1966, he married Carolyn Gilleland of Camden, Arkansas and together they had two sons.

After serving in the Air Force, Bill worked for the federal government in Washington, DC for many years and later at the Veteran’s Hospital in Houston, Texas.

In 1988, he and his wife, Carolyn, moved to Houston, Texas, before settling in Pearland, in 1998.

He graduated from University of Houston Downtown in 1997 and then spent the final thirteen years of his career as the University’s Director of Distance Education before retiring in 2010.

After retiring in 2010, Bill enjoyed going on cruises and traveling with his wife and family.

He and Carolyn recently celebrated their 54^th wedding anniversary.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Toni Maurer, and his grandsons, Brian “BJ” and Matthew.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn O’Neill; sons, William O’Neill and wife, Nancy of Boyds, MD, Brian O’Neill and wife, Lee of Bunker Hill, WV; six grandchildren, Mikayla, William “Alex”, Brandon, Mia, Julia and Libby O’Neill. He is also survived by two sisters, Lori O’Neill and Timi O’Neill, both of New York.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2019 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W Broadway Street, Pearland, TX 77581 with a rosary recited at 4:00 pm. Services will be held Monday, September 9, 2019 at 10:00 am in the Chapel at St. Helen’s Catholic Church, 2209 Old Alvin Road, Pearland, TX 77581 with Father José Alonso officiating. The interment will be on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at 10: 15 am at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Mikayla, William “Alex”, Brandon, Mia, Julia and Libby.
