Obituary of Jovita R Montemayor
Jovita R. Montemayor, 61, passed away Sunday, October 6, 2019. She is preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Consuelo Ramos. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Jose Montemayor; sons, Tommy Montemayor and wife, Monica, Stephen Montemayor and wife, Cindy; daughter, Raquel Trevino and husband, Victor; brothers, Martin Jr., Mario, Moses, Marcos, Mauro, Manuel and Michael Ramos; sister, Josie Jones; grandchildren, Julius, Victoria, Olivia, Nicholas, Julian, Chris, Angelo, and Angelina; and a host of other family and dear friends.
Jovita came to La Porte in 1966 and graduated from La Porte High School in 1976. She believed in addressing the needs of children and making sure they received a great education. Jovita worked for over 20 years in La Porte ISD helping students with special needs. She was strong in her faith and served for more than 25 years as the Children’s Church Director. Giving back to her community and those in need came naturally to her as she opened her home to after-school care. Jovita also assisted local neighborhood centers with developing after school programs. She cherished spending time with her family and adored her grandchildren. Jovita will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Services for Jovita will be held at Templo Bautista De Habla Hispana at 427 S. 15th Street, La Porte, Texas 77571. Wednesday, October 9, 2019 and Thursday, October 10, 2019 will have visitations taking place from 6:00 until 8:00 pm. The funeral service will take place Friday, October 11, 2019 at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Grand View Memorial Park in Pasadena, Texas.
