Obituary of Carol Francis Leatherwood
Carol Francis Leatherwood of Pearland, Tx was ushered into Heaven peacefully and on her “own terms” Saturday, October 19, 2019, in Houston, Tx surrounded by her family and many loving and dedicated employees of Cornerstone Specialty Hospitals Medical Center.
Carol was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and teacher that cherished family. She was truly the rock of the family and would go without before watching her children/grandchildren be in need. She supported her children while growing up as Brownie/Boy Scout Den Leaders, team mom for football/baseball and sewed all her daughter’s and friends dance recital costumes.
Carol was strong in her Christian faith and loved the Lord with all her heart. She loved the song “Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty! And would ask her daughter to play it repeatedly during her illness. She loved sewing, had a passion for family genealogy, cross-stitching, crossword puzzles and cooking for her family. Carol had an amazing sense of humor, was an avid reader and loved watching her favorite television shows, especially “Days of Our Lives.” Carol will be remembered for her stubborn determination and the wonderful “little nuggets” of inspiration she shared with her family throughout her entire life.
But the most amazing thing about Carol was the love she had for her grandchildren. Her grandchildren meant the world to her. She loved reading, watching movies, playing dolls and trains with them when they were young. As the grandchildren grew up it was the little small talks that they had during their time together and at the end of their visit as the grandchildren walked down the hall they would say “See you later Alligator” and Carol’s response was always “in a while crocodile.”
Carol is preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Mary Merlene Bell; and her loving husband of 48 years, Bobby Dean Leatherwood.
Left to cherish her sweet memory are daughter, Mical Michelle Yee and husband Stephen; her son Howard Lee Leatherwood. Carol has 8 grandchildren, Jessica Gray, Morgan Fortenberry and husband Shelby, Keleigh, Hunter and Broghan Yee, Kalley Noles, Ronald and Aaron Leatherwood. Her sister, Cheryll Wren and husband Steven Ross; nieces Caryn Wren and Sarah Ziatis; and a host of other family and dear friends.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
