(Jake) Rhodes, and mother-in-law, Sara Karber Rhodes. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 48 years, Wanda Miller; sons, James Dirk Bruner and wife, Donneda, Mike Miller and wife, Julie, Neal Bruner and wife, Denise, David Bruner and wife, Shirley, Matt Miller and wife, Ashley; daughter, Mollie Miller; brother, Jerry Miller; sisters, Kathy Miller, Anita Woodruff; uncle, Alan Miller, aunt, Madeline Williamson; twenty-two grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
Grady was a hard-working and devoted family man that was an excellent provider for his family. He started Pearland Asphalt and Concrete with his father and brother in 1972. Together they built a strong and lasting business. Throughout his life, Grady’s hobbies changed many times. He loved tractors; from the smallest lawnmower to the biggest dozer. Some of his greatest joy was being able to head out to his pasture where he could climb on his tractor and mow all day. Grady enjoyed going to the family property on the Colorado River where he could take friends and family hunting. On most of these trips, he would get to cook for everyone. Grady loved cooking and won many blue ribbons at the Crawfish Cook-offs. Throughout his life, he developed a passion for traveling and always looked for a great antique shop to stop and visit. Grady could wander around for days at antique shops and was known to visit many auctions across the southern states. Despite all these hobbies, Grady found his greatest comfort in the Lord. He was a man of strong faith and a generous supporter of the First United Methodist Church in Pearland. He cherished his family and looked forward to every opportunity he had to spend time with them. Grady will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
