Oscar Arañego Calabia, age 76, passed away unexpectedly on March 2, 2008. A native of the Philippines, Oscar was here in the United States visiting his family in Pearland since November of 2007. He is survived by his wife Susana Catral Calabia; sons, Cesar Calabia and his wife Lorna; Carlo Calabia and his wife Benaida; daughters Corazon Alcantara and her husband Nestor, Criselda Miranda and her husband Eric; Clemen Banaglorioso and her husband Ted; Cecille Beloso and her husband Lervie; brother, Rodelo Calabia and his wife Fely; sister, Lilia Calabia; sixteen grandchildren, and a host of other friends and relatives. Oscar was affectionately known as “Ta Tay Oca” to all of his family and friends. He was a retired accountant with the Philippine government. Oscar loved to sing, had an interest in all levels of politics, and enjoyed discussing finance. One of his earlier pastimes was bowling. He enjoyed traveling with Susana and spending time with his family. Visitation for Oscar will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2008 at Clayton Funeral Home from 5 PM – 9 PM where Deacon Dale Almenario will recite the Rosary at 7:30 pm. Funeral services and burial will take place in the Philippines.
