Obituary of Teresa Chavez

Teresa Chavez, 90, of San Antonio passed away on Monday, January 20, 2020. She was born in Yorktown, Texas to Ignacio Garza and Teresa Longoria. Preceding Teresa in death are her parents; husband, Valentine Chavez; brother and sisters. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Egnacio Chavez and wife, Carmen; Israel Chavez and wife, Eva; Valentin Chavez and wife, Judy; Paul Chavez and wife, Teresa; Robert Chavez and wife, Diane and Pete Chavez; daughters, Lupe Hernandez, Mary Zavala and husband, Juan; Josie Garcia and husband, Pete and Janie Martinez and husband, Gaudencio as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Teresa was a great woman of faith. She exhibited her love for God by the way she treated others. A great sense of humor was one of her valuable qualities. Teresa enjoyed playing poker, puzzles and singing. Family events was always atop her list of things to do. Eating out at Luby’s, Denny’s and I-Hop was also a pastime for Teresa. Her most favorite pastime was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She prepared great meals for her family as she was a great cook. Her kind and gentle spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Services for Teresa Chavez will be held at Clayton Funeral Home in La Porte, Texas, 201 South 3rd Street, La Porte, Texas 77571. The visitation and rosary will be held Friday, January 24, 2020. The visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 pm with the Rosary recited at 6:00 pm. The funeral service will take place Saturday, January 25, 2020 at 10:00 am in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Marcos Ramos officiating. Interment will follow the services at Grand View Memorial Park in Pasadena, Texas. Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Chavez Jr., Vincent Vasquez, Eric Chavez, Erik Martinez, Roy Morrial, Joseph Gonzales, Ron Chavez, Matthew Chavez, John Chavez and Joseph Patt.
