Please share a memory of Daniel to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Daniel Joseph Stephens, 65, passed away Monday, March 16, 2020. He is preceded in death by his mother, Edna Stephens. Left to cherish his memory are his father, John Stephens; his loving wife of 39 years, Sandra Stephens; daughters, Rejeana Stephens, Sara Boykin and husband, Terrence, Kristina Mae Stephens; sister, Ruth Ann Sohler and husband, Alan; grandchild, Kiara Boykin; and a host of other family and dear friends. Daniel had many interests, among them being a contract welder for a number of years working in refineries, hospitals and pipe manufacturing yards. After many years working in this field he decided to go back to school and work toward getting a Mechanical Engineering Degree. While still working to support his family and attending night school, he graduated from San Jacinto College. Then continued on to the University of Houston where he received his Mechanical Engineering Degree. His years of experience as a contract welder helped him become a respected engineer for the companies he worked for. He was a member of: AMA, BMOA, ASME, ASQ, AWS, SME and Phi Theta Kappa. When he wasn’t working, learning new things, reading and researching his family’s genealogy, he enjoyed being with family and helping Sandy to teach his daughters, to be strong, independent women. Daniel was overjoyed when he was at the hospital to meet his first grandchild, and from then on anything he was doing stopped whenever she was near. He will always be loved and remembered as a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend to anyone he met and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Daniel’s honor to The Diabetes Society, American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice. A Memorial service for Daniel will be held at a later time.
