Obituary of Richard Charles Funesti

Richard “Rich” Charles Funesti, 60, passed away May 21, 2020. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 35 years, Terree Funesti; daughter, Amanda Funesti; sons, Nicholas Funesti and wife, Kylie, and Brendan Funesti; his father, Charles Funesti and wife, Diane; sister, Deborah Kersting and husband, Earl; father-in-law, David Holland and wife, Debbie; and a host of many other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother, Helene Funesti; and mother-in-law, Nancee Holland.
Rich was a loving and devoted husband and father that was an excellent provider for his family. He graduated with a Master’s Degree from the University of Central Missouri. Rich had a long and distinguished career in industrial safety. He was employed by PCI Nitrogen in Pasadena, TX, and was an active member of the American Society of Safety Professionals. Rich was strong in his faith and loved the Lord. He believed in developing strong relationships and made friends everywhere he went. He enjoyed having fun with his family, attending his sons’ football games, traveling on vacations and bike riding with his daughter. Rich loved to cook dishes from scratch, soups and Italian dishes were among his favorites, and he loved going to the Farmers Market. Rich loved watching sports and was a big Kansas City Chiefs fan. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in Rich’s honor to the CAGT Leukemia Foundation. Checks may be made payable to the Houston Methodist Hospital Foundation at P.O. Box 4384, Houston, Texas 77210-4384. Please include Mr. Richard Funesti’s name and the donation being made to the CAGT Leukemia Foundation in the memo line of the check.
Services for Rich will be held Saturday, May 30, 2020 at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. The visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 pm with the funeral service following beginning at 2:00 pm in the chapel with Pastor Craig Taylor officiating.
