Obituary of Linda Tom Layne

Linda Tom Conrady Layne, 73, was born on December 4, 1936 in Ardmore, Oklahoma to Tom and Irene Conrady. She passed away unexpectedly at her home on September 20, 2010. She graduated from Muskogee Central High School in Muskogee, Oklahoma and is a graduate of Indiana University. She was a choral director for various schools in the Ector County Independent School District in Odessa, Texas for over 30 years. She married Robert Layne on August 15, 1959. After his death in 1996, she moved to Pearland, Texas to be closer to her children. Linda loved music, playing bridge, shih tzu puppies and spending time with her family. She was a breast cancer survivor and was an inspiration to her family and friends with her consistently positive attitude and relentlessly strong faith in God. Linda was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her son Robert Layne and wife Kim and daughter Libbie Layne Merritt and husband Randall, all of Pearland, Texas. She is also survived by her brother Jim Conrady of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, grandchildren Michael Merritt of Grapevine, Texas, Willie Merritt and family of Missouri City, Texas and Cameron Layne of Pearland, Texas, as well as numerous other loving family members and friends. The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday, September 25, 2010 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 West Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. A visitation will also be held at First Baptist Church in Odessa, Texas on Saturday, October 2, 2010 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Private graveside services will be held at a later date in Muskogee, Oklahoma.
