Obituary of Dr. Rushikesh Hariprasad Mehta
Please share a memory of Dr. Rushikesh to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Dr. Rushikesh H. Mehta was born in India on May 12, 1948 in Mahu, Madhya Pradesh and raised in his beloved Rajpipla, Gujarat, where a piece of his heart remained throughout his life. Dr. Mehta's untimely and sudden death by cardiac arrest occurred in the Houston suburb of Pearland, TX on July 5, 2020.
Dr. Mehta's journey brought him and his wife, Geeta, from India to America in their early twenties where he influenced lives and left a lasting impression on communities in Chicago, IL; Andalusia, AL; and Laurel, MS. After 11 years of running a private pediatric practice in Laurel, he continued his work providing service at Ellisville State School, helping those with developmental and mental impairments enjoy life to its maximum potential. His passion for encouraging people to live healthy, fulfilling lives and conviction in the power of preventive medicine, led him to combine his medical training and research with natural integrative therapies. Through this path, he treated, consulted, and changed the lives of countless numbers of friends, acquaintances, and strangers. He was humble and selfless until the day he passed, and anyone who crossed his path was blessed to know him.
Dr. Mehta is survived by Geeta, his wife of 48 years, his children Shrujal (Nili) and Kajal (Ketul), and his grandchildren, Anjali, Roshan, and Jiya, along with his siblings Daksha (Dipak), Chhaya (Jyotindra), and Hiren (Jyoti). He was preceded in death by his older brother, Sharad (Pankaj). He will be greatly missed by numerous nephews, nieces, their families, and friends around the world.
