Obituary of Alice Maurine Criswell

Alice Maurine Criswell, 85, passed away Saturday, August 22, 2020. She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Hilda Gentry; her loving husband of 52 years, Harrell L. Criswell; and aunt Lydia “Tanté” Galmiche. Left to cherish her memory are her son, David Lea Criswell (Lisa); daughters, Susan Lea Harris (Rick), Elaine Vasquez (Manuel), Karen Martinez (Johnny), Janice Vega (Salomon), Theresa Dworaczyk; sister, Eunice Lay; grandchildren, Ryan Harris (Stephanie), Katie Harris, Denny Tramel (Joelle), Erica Tramel, Tracy Cabrera (Vicente), Danny Vasquez (Ben), Claire Martinez, Candice Criswell, Dustyn Criswell, Elizabeth Nelson (Cliff), Ashley Criswell, Jacob Kern (Devin), Brianne Vega, Lucas Dworaczyk, Sarah Dworaczyk; great grandchildren, Kaylea, Avery, Liam, Hunter, Dakota, Blake, Christian, Julian, Graycen, Kinleigh, Camron, Karmin, a great grandson on the way; and a host of other family and dear friends.
Alice was a loving and devoted, wife, mother, and grandmother that cherished spending time with her family. She was strong in her faith and an active and dedicated member of her church where she served in many different areas. She believed her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and her sweet dog “Minnie” were truly gifts from God. Alice enjoyed gardening and being outdoors. She loved camping and fishing with Harrell. She was an avid fan of the Houston Astros and the TCU Horned Frogs and found great joy in watching the games. Alice will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Alice’s honor to the Mary Queen Food Pantry. The church will have the ability to watch a livestream of the funeral mass. To view the live stream you may go to the church website for directions at https://maryqueencatholicchurch.org/.
Services for Alice will be held Friday, August 28, 2020 at Mary Queen Catholic Church, 606 Cedarwood Dr., Friendswood, Texas 77546. The church requires that all attending services must follow social distancing protocols and wear masks. The visitation will begin at 10:30 am and the funeral mass will follow at 11:00 am with Father Jim H. Kuczynski officiating. A private family interment will take place at SouthPark Cemetery.
