Virginia Lee Wofford September 18, 1933 - September 12, 2020 Virginia was resident of Spring, Texas for 50 years. She will be lovingly remembered by: Son- Wes C. Wofford, spouse Cecilia G. Wofford Granddaughter -Valerie Mikel, spouse Kyle Mikel Granddaughter -Cori Reitz, spouse Chris Reitz, great granddaughter Caylin Reitz and a host of extended family members and friends. She is preceded in death by parents: Matthew and Nettie Whitley Spouse -John D. Wofford Sr. and son John D. Wofford Jr. (Bud) Siblings- Wanda, Katherine, and Allen Whitley While attending San Jacinto High School in Houston, Texas she joined the 4H club. and began showing animals at various County Fairs. Much to her surprise, at her very first Houston Livestock show (Fat Stock show) in those days, Virginia won a registered calf which went on to win Harris County Champion for five years. Virginia was runner Rodeo queen and crowned Harris Fair Queen in 1952. Her many accomplishments were featured in local newspapers and was interviewed on television several times. One of her most prestigious awards was a college scholarship from the Houston Chamber of Commerce. Although honored to be the first woman to be accepted to Texas A & M, she chose to attend Sam Houston State University. She met her future husband John while there and they married shortly after graduation. She was a member of Klein United Methodist church in Spring, Texas since its inception. A teacher and administrator for Klein ISD for 35 years, retiring in 2000 at which time she was a principal at Klein Oak High school. After her retirement she enjoyed traveling and socializing with her many friends, gardening, and watching tennis. Spending time with her family and hosting grand family gatherings brought her great joy. To say that Virginia was an amazing woman is a huge understatement.She will be missed tremendously, but remembered fondly for her dazzlingly loving personality, genuine friendliness, and enthusiastic relentless nature.
