Renee Grimes, beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend went to be with the Lord on September 22,2020 while convalescing at NYU Langone Medical Center, in Manhattan New York. Renee was a native New Yorker, born to the union of Jasper Lee Grimes and Nora Jean McKune on June 24,1961. Renee, the youngest daughter and number five of seven children, enjoyed her youth in Brooklyn. Growing up in a Christian home, Renee professed her faith at Target AME Church in Holly Hill SC. Renee continued in her faith until her death. She was a God-fearing woman, and when able, she attended services regularly in her local church. Renee also had an affiliation with Church Without Walls in Houston, TX. Renee attended Brooklyn Public Schools for elementary and middle school. She graduated from Fallsburg Central High School, in South Fallsburg NY, and shared many stories of her participation in track and field. The shot put was her game. Upon graduation, Renee was employed with the New York State Correctional Facility, Department of Corrections. Renee continued her career path in customer service until her health failed. To all that knew her, Renee was a joy to be around. Renee was a funny, energetic, loving and free-spirited person. She was generous beyond measure. She would give her last dime to anyone that needed it, without hesitation or remorse. Renee dreamed big. She encouraged everyone around her to dream big and reach for the stars. Though Renee never completed college, she valued education. She brimmed with pride as she excitedly watched her daughters attained their goals. She was so proud of them. Renee lived for and loved her grandchildren. They were her ultimate joy. She loved seeing them achieve milestones. She was gladdened by each high school graduation, enlistment in the military and marriage. It was her pleasure to watch them grow into the incredible spirits they are today. Even through her illness, they gave Renee strength and motivation to keep pressing on. Renee loved life and believed in living it to the fullest Renee enjoyed cooking, music and watching movies. Most of all, Renee loved her family. She was extremely friendly and outgoing, as well as outspoken. She was a protector and guardian. She never failed to advocate for any of us. She loved us all for who we were, never judging us for our mistakes or short comings. Though Renee was far from perfect she loved us perfectly. Renee was everything to everybody. Renee is gone from this earth as we know it, but she will never be forgotten. Renee was preceded in death by her father, Jasper Lee Grimes, brother Jerry Grimes and sister Gloria Diane Grimes. She is survived by her two beautiful daughters Nora of Houston and Ashley of Brooklyn. Renee was blessed with 6 incredible grandchildren, Trent (Chelsea) of Norfolk VA, Cain, Daniel, Elenore, Isabella and Elin. Renee also leaves behind her loving mother Nora Jean McKune of Houston, Four brothers, Henry A Keller of Harlem NY, Jasper (Joy) Cain of Courtland Manor NY, Brian Grimes of Houston, Anthony (Temora) Grimes of Suffolk VA, and sister Jennifer (Michael) Miles of Houston. Renee also leaves to mourn her 10 nieces and nephews, 9 great nieces and nephews, 2 great-great nieces, and a host of cousins and friends.
