Obituary of Jose Ramon Mendieta

Please share a memory of Jose to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jose Ramon Mendieta, the eldest son of his proud parents Jose and Marcia Mendieta and the husband of his loving wife Reagan Jaramillo Mendieta, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 15, 2020 as he lived his life—surrounded by family and friends. Although he passed too soon at the age of only 33, Jose made the most of his time and lived an incredible life worth honoring, remembering, and celebrating forever. In a world where people can be hard to read and understand, Jose was the easiest person to read, understand, and respect. He loved his family. He loved his friends, especially his brothers from St. Thomas High School. He worked extremely hard on whatever he was doing, and most notably on the family restaurant business, including Mely’s and Emma’s, that has been serving the Pearland area for decades. He had several hobbies and passions, including music (Luis Miguel and Frank Sinatra) and sports (tennis and golf). Even if you did not share his passion, Jose had a gift for presenting and explaining things that would make you passionate about anything. He would bring you some tequila and then tell you the most amazing story about how that tequila made it from Mexico to you. He would tell you about different chefs and restaurants, providing in-depth information that you couldn’t find anywhere else. He loved tequila and good food because he took the time to learn about those things, and he appreciated the time and effort that went into creating them. It is hard to think about Jose and not smile, and also laugh. He brought people together. He made everyone feel comfortable. He gave you courage and strength. Whatever you were facing, you wanted Jose by your side. And, if he couldn’t be by your side, you looked forward to sharing your stories with him. Jose was a good man and an amazing son, husband, brother, friend, and so much more to so many people. He is survived by his parents Jose and Marcia Mendieta, his wife Reagan Jaramillo Mendieta, his brothers Luis Mendieta, Dominique Mendieta, and Felix Cerda, and the rest of the Mendieta family. He will be loved and remembered by everyone who knew him. A Memorial Service for Jose will be held Thursday, November 19, 2020 at 10:00 am at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.claytonfuneralhomes.com.
