Obituary of Darlene Josephine Bruce

Darlene Josephine Bruce, 88, passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2020. She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Irene Habel; husband, Hoyt Payne Bruce; and sister, Dorothy McLemore. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Doug Davis and wife, Suzanne, Michael Davis, Gary Davis; daughters, Darla Smith, Brenda Byrd; Annette Kaltwasser, Elizabeth Jay; sister, Betty Grigsby; Seven grandchildren; Ten great grandchildren; One great great grandson, and a host of other dear family and friends. Darlene was a loving and thoughtful mother and grandmother who loved her family unconditionally. She loved spending time with her family and kept numerous picture books of them and her favorite memories. Darlene never missed a birthday and always sent birthday cards. She kept a secret candy stash that she would only share with her beloved great grandchildren. Darlene loved to embroidery and did beautiful work. She also enjoyed collecting salt and pepper shakers and had quite the collection. Darlene was known to enjoy a glass of her favorite Canadian whiskey and she loved to go dancing. Darlene never went out without her pink lipstick on. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Services for Darlene will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 West Broadway, Pearland, Texas. Visitation will be held from 2:00 – 3:00 pm, a Memorial Service will follow at 3:00 pm, with Pastor Keith Anderson officiating.
