So many fun memories of "Uncle Bobby" growing up...here are a few to share...
-Uncle Bobby hanging Drew and my brother upside down by their ankles when they got too rowdy running around...
-Drew and Uncle Bobby playing the Waylon Jennings song "Amanda You Light Up My Life" about a hundred times when I came down to visit. It tickled me so much that I was telling Steve this memory and the song came on just before the service started today.
-Driving us to the neighborhood pool in the summertime sitting in the back of the pickup (about 5 miles an hour) with our feet hanging off the back dragging on the hot pavement...
-Giving me my first taste of beer (7-8 yrs old???) I hated it then and still hate it to this day...
-Taking us kids to an Astros game...driving around the parking lot after the game in a tiny red car with his head sticking out of the sunroof scaring me half to death and having a blast...later that evening, he took us kids to some back roads and had us each drive which was my first time driving as well as a driving a stick shift ..all three of us drove even though we all could barely reach the pedals. He wanted to teach me not to be a "woman driver" which still offends me to this day, but like Drew said, that was an issue of his. I do remember some things he taught me about driving though and makes me smile.
-Driving back from a party at a ranch, there was a huge armadillo in the dirt road that wouldn't move. Uncle Bobby got out of the car to "kick" it out of the way. I don't remember who won that battle but I'm sure there was beer involved...
-One day I hung out with him all day (not sure how this came about) but Uncle Bobby was doing a private investigating job. We were surveilling a house and went to the library to do some research. Probably the longest I ever hung out with him and especially by ourselves. I remember it was a fun day. Lots of good talks (some about driving as well)
-Finally, I think the last time I saw him was a Drew and Mercy's wedding. He didn't even recognize me with having grown up so much and it was so fun to see him and dance with everyone at the wedding.
Special memories I will always keep. God Bless him and all of you. Miss you.
