Albert Arthur Allen passed away Thursday, December 31, 2020. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph R. Allen Sr. and Ruth Kepner Allen; wife, Gwendolyn Kerwin Allen; brothers, Ralph Allen Jr., Leo Allen; sisters, Marie Jersin, Ruth Raney, Billie Renker, Dorothy Raney, and Shirley Klinker. Left to cherish Albert’s memory are his son, Christopher Paul Allen and wife, Lisa; daughter, Theresa Marie Medearis and husband, Brent; brother, Thomas Wilson; sisters, Sandra Bennett, Carol Jean Kueny; Seven grandchildren, and a host of other dear family and friends.
Albert was a hard worker and great provider for his family. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Albert graduated from Peru State College in Nebraska and moved to Texas in 1962, working as a hide and leather broker. During his career he became VP of North American Hide Exporters and President of Sunbelt Regional Transport. Later in his life, Albert branched out on his own and became a consultant and independent broker. He worked well into his seventies. Albert loved fishing and the outdoors. He also loved playing pool, as well as listening and dancing to country music. Albert was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, serving as an officer in each of these organizations. Albert had a zest for life, the most contagious smile, and he loved spending time talking and telling stories whenever he could. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Memorial service for Albert will be planned in the spring in Omaha, Nebraska.
