Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mary Norton was born December 12, 1929, in Yoakum, Texas. She passed peacefully February 24, 2021. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, as well as the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. Mary was preceded in death by parents Hugh and Ethel Wagoner, along with two dear and beloved husbands William E. Wolff, and LTC Dunbar Norton, as well as daughter Katie Wolff. She is survived by her daughters Adele Reyna and Laura Silverman. Mary also has four stepchildren that she adored, Priscilla Norton, Doug Norton, Jennifer Bigelow, and Becky Davidson. All together she leaves 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mary’s life with her first husband was spent raising their three daughters while living in various Texas towns where he served as City Manager. In 1969 they moved to Pearland where William E. (Billy) Wolff served as City Manager until 1984. Two years after his death, Mary attended an army reunion where she met the man who was to be her second husband; LTC Dunbar Norton. Upon marrying him, she moved to Yuma, Arizona, and spent most of her time involved in community work and keeping up an exhausting cruise schedule. Mary was a devout Catholic and began every day with prayer. She was a kind and gentle soul who to her dying day never had a bad word to say about anybody or anything. She truly appreciated the life that God had given her, and she inspired others to do the same. She played the piano beautifully and was an avid reader. As the centerpiece of her family, she could always be counted on for love, support, and guidance, no matter what. Mary had a warm smile that made everyone around her feel as if they were the only person in the room. She left an indelible mark on everyone she met. She was devoted to her family who take great comfort knowing she is now happily reunited in heaven with those who have gone before her. Rosary will be recited Tuesday at 7:00 pm, March 2, 2021, at Clayton Funeral Home, in Pearland Tx. Services for Mary will be held Wednesday, March 3 at St. Helen Catholic Church, in Pearland Tx. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am with the funeral mass following at 10:30 am. Interment will follow the mass immediately thereafter at SouthPark cemetery in Pearland. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Eagle’s Trace Treasure Chest scholarship fund. (14703 Eagle Vista Dr., Houston, Tx, 77077)
