Obituary of David Arthur Roberts

Please share a memory of David to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
David “Amazing” (Arthur) Roberts, 66, passed away on Saturday, March 20th, after a courageous battle with pneumonia and related lung injury. Born on January 4, 1955 at Enid AFB, Enid, Oklahoma. David spent his youth in Shreveport, Louisiana. He graduated from Louisiana Tech University with Bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and Asian History. David went on to earn a higher education teaching degree and completed a Master’s degree in History from Louisiana State University. David’s marriage to Johnna, the love of his life for 23 years, was a joy to behold. David always said God chose her and her family for him. He considered being a father to his two children his most important and rewarding role. David always put his family first. His extraordinary faith in God was reflected daily in the loving care he extended to his Mother and Father-in-Law and the strong moral character he modeled for his children. David felt genuinely blessed by his three grandchildren and enjoyed every opportunity to spend time with them. The children adored him and lovingly referred to him as “G-Pa”. As Vice President and co-owner of NATEC of Texas, David took great pride in the company. He was a respected environmental safety educator and industry leader. Having authored technical materials used by the state, David was invaluable to his business partner of 25 years, co-workers and colleagues. His willingness to share his knowledge and to help others will be missed by all who worked with him. As a sports enthusiast, David was passionate about football. He loved attending his children’s sporting events and cheering them on. Some of the only moments where David lost his temper were over football (whether live or televised). Having been a Boy Scout, David was an avid lover of the outdoors and enjoyed camping with his children. He loved sitting around a Hill Country campfire with friends, family, a glass of fine wine, and of course, there had to be music. Music was a huge part of David’s life. He had a broad knowledge of and appreciation for all music genres. He respected musicians and always felt right at home in a Texas dancehall listening to his favorite singer-songwriters. David loved to travel with his wife and children. His appreciation of history made him a wonderful travel companion. He and Johnna shared extraordinary adventures traveling to countries all over the world. David cherished their annual family visits to Lake Tahoe in the wintertime. Some of his favorite memories were made there. David will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. David is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Mildred Roberts. He is survived by his loving wife, Johnna Roberts; son, Ron Wyont; daughter, Georgia Naumann and husband, Aaron; brothers, Glenn Roberts and wife, Donna, Michael Roberts and wife, Kathy; sisters, Norma Debrow, Annie Griffin and husband, Bill; grandchildren, Wayland, Weldon, and Weslynn Naumann, and many, many other dear family and friends.
